Great Success for CyI\u2019s \u201c2019 sCYence Fair\u201d<\/h2><\/div>
<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

With the participation of hundreds of students from 25 Public and Private Schools in Cyprus, the pioneering and multidimensional Science Festival “sCYence Fair 2019”, organized for the first time by The Cyprus Institute under the aegis of the Ministry of Education and Science, with the support of the Aglantzia Municipality, took place on Friday and Saturday 15-16 March. The aim of the festival was to attract young people and people of all ages to science, technology and innovation and to inspire and encourage young people to broaden their scientific quests and vision a career in science.<\/p>\n

The science fair also included a variety of innovative and entertaining events such as scientific and educational interactive events, exhibitions, presentations, screenings and informative lectures, experiments and workshops, as well as speeches by renowned scientists from The Cyprus Institute and abroad. During this time, The Cyprus Institute opened its doors, enabling young researchers and the broad public to explore its impressive infrastructures and facilities.<\/p>\n

During the fair, students presented innovative scientific activities, while the best and most imaginative activities and presentations from Primary, Secondary and High Schools were awarded in their category on the basis of science, impact, and overall presentation. The winners in the three categories were the Third Dali Elementary School with the “Hydraulic Robotic Hand” activity, the Katholiki Gymnasium in Limassol with the activity “Stars: Birth-Life-Death” and the Lyceum of Agios Ioannis Limassol, with the activity ” Study of water in the Troodos area”. The prizes were awarded by Prof. Costas Papanicolas, President of The Cyprus Institute, Dr. Petros Kareklas, President of the \u201cFriends of The Cyprus Institute\u201d Association, and Dr. Michalis Yiangou, Vice-President for Operations of the Institute.<\/p>\n

The success of the science festival and the great resonance it had with both the participating students and the visiting public, is a guarantee for the establishment of the \u201csCYence Fair\u201d as an annual event by The Cyprus Institute.<\/p>\n
