Mito Rangers: Cellular Heroes in Action!
The biobank.cy team presents an imaginative and scientific mission where visitors transform into Mito Rangers, superheroes who protect cells from threats such as DNA mutations and cancer.
Through interactive missions, both children and adults will explore the power of mitochondria, their role in cancer, and the importance of genetic research. The objectives include linking mitochondrial function to the maintenance of cellular health, raising awareness about the role of mtDNA in cancer and other diseases, creating a heroic narrative that turns children into “scientific superheroes,” and highlighting the work of biobank.cy.
Participants move across a giant floor game, like energy molecules or “Rangers,” traveling from the entrance of the cell to the ultimate goal: production of ATP energy and preventing disease. Along the way, they pass through cellular organelles, answer questions, perform actions, avoid “malignant mutations,” and collect “power Rangers/ATP.”
